Look, I don't enjoy this. No one here does.

But the roads are worse now. Hunters don't come back as often. The purple corruption makes the woods feel wrong, like the shadows are listening.

We have a town to feed, and a town to defend from the strange happenings.

Chickens mean meat for the hungry and feathers for fletching. Without arrows, us guards become a wall of empty hands.

You're going to have to harvest ten. Bring me ten feathers. We won't waste what we take.

Careful! Don't step there. They'll swarm your boots like you've got grain in your pockets.

I started with a few hens. Just enough to keep the ovens going when the frost bites hardest.

But lately? It's like winter can't touch them. The purple blight spreads, folk go hungry, and my chickens multiply like they're mocking us.

They're everywhere. In the snowbanks. On the roofs. Pecking holes in sacks we can't replace.

I can't just... cut them down. They're mine and they're living. I raised them.

Please. Talk to Runa at the Shiverfield Guard. She'll know what to do. I just need an answer that doesn't make my stomach turn.
